Figure Drawing, Continued Measuring The width of the head from ear to ear is used to proportionally measure the adult figure width of the human figure.    Male shoulders are a full 3 heads wide and his width with the head hips  are  2  heads  wide.  A  male  figure  is  generally  thick  and  angular.  Female shoulders and hips are nearly equal in proportion. The shoulders of a female figure taper and appear more round. Figure 3-35 shows the differences in head units in width between a male and female  figure.
